The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded CGS Administrators the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) Jurisdiction C contract. This seven-year, $215.7 million contract includes the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia and West Virginia.
CMS indicates that the Jurisdiction C contract includes 13 million Medicare beneficiaries and 31,500 DME Suppliers which equates to almost 38% of the national workload. CGS will perform Medicare fee-for-service activities including processing claims received from providers and suppliers; appeals; re-openings, customer service; provider outreach and education; and medical review.
